Indigenous Art Prize 2008  Dates: 21st August t- 11th October           

The Parliament of NSW Indigenous Art Prize is conducted in partnership with Brewarrina Shire Council, Outback Arts and Museums and Galleries. Building on the success of the previous Art Prizes, the Parliament of New South Wales Indigenous Art Prize continues to recognise the high standard of Indigenous art in New South Wales. Among artists, the Prize's reputation continues to grow. In 2008, there were more entries than ever before.

Local Indigenous Art Exhibition       

 Dates: December 2009- February-2010   

The exhibition will contain the works of local talented Indigenous artists from around the Brewarrina Shire. The exhibition will underline the importance of Art in local Indigenous communities and it will be an expression of culture, identity, and the continuance of a proud heritage. 

 

 Ken Tucker

Dates: February – May 2010

Ken is a full-time established professional practicing artist, who also conducts weekly art classes and weekend workshops for students of all ages, from art beginners to advanced levels. Ken is masterful in the use oil, acrylic and watercolour mediums. His candid observations of his surrounds allow him to pursue a painterly dialogue of his visions, both in a traditional realist and contemporary impressionistic manner. His works display strength in contrast, created by his skilful use of the elements critical to his compositions, light and tone.

 Ken's versatility as an artist is evident in the diverseness of the size and subject matter he engages with, whether it is a landscape, a still life or a portrait Ken’s landscape works have for 3 consecutive years, 2006, 07, 08; been selected as finalist in the prestige Mortimore Art Prize. Ken enjoys accepting commissioned works, running workshops, and has paintings hanging in many private collections locally and abroad.

Dates: March- April 2011There are 15-20 wall works of oil paintings, lino prints and etchings and the equivalent number of floor works including wooden sculptures and reed weavings.
